Ukraine And Moldova Recognized As Candidates For EU Membership, Russia Compares With Hitler

Ukraine and Moldova has now formally been recognized as candidates for EU membership, while the EU is ready to grant candidate status to Georgia "once priorities will be addressed". Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has compared the EU and NATO to Hitler and said they are building a coalition to fight Russia.

"Historic agreement, historic decision. Today we have decided to recognize the European perspective of Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia. We have decided to grant candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova, and we are ready to grant candidate status to Georgia once priorities will be addressed".

Lavrov however, says that the European Union is becoming more aggressive towards Russia and is attempting to create a coalition in order to fight it, and incite others to antagonize it.

During a press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijani, Lavrov said "The European Union has recently turned remarkably toward anti-Russian. The claims absolutely contradict the documents specific to the relations between the European Union and Russia".

Lavrov also compared the EU and NATO to Hitler, saying "We have few illusions that the EU’s Russophobe mood will somehow dissipate or change in the long term. But this is the path the Europeans have chosen".

"When World War II started, Hitler gathered a significant number – if not the majority – of European countries under his flag in order to wage war on the USSR. Right now, the EU and NATO are building a contemporary coalition, essentially in order to wage war on Russia." Lavrov said.
