Turkey has reportedly closed their air space to civilian aircraft that carry military personnel from Russia to Syria after speaking with Moscow, according to Turkish broadcaster TRT Haber, who cited Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Saturday.

Turkey is currently a NATO member but has been attempting to remain relatively neutral throughout the war between Russia and Ukraine.

"We closed airspace to Russia's military planes and even to civilian planes going to Syria and carrying soldiers," Cavusoglu told reporters while he was on his way to Uruguay.
