Snake Island Recaptured, Ukrainian Flag Raised

An island in the black sea, which had previously been a strategic military position for the Russian Armed Forces to house heavy artillery and missile batteries, has now been reclaimed by the country of Ukraine. Snake Island is now back under the control of the Ukrainians.

From Wikipedia:
Snake Island has 2 other names and is known as Serpent Island and Zmiinyi Island. It is part of the Odesa Oblaste and near the Danube Delta area. In ancient antiquity, it also housed a temple to Achilles. It is located approximately 90 miles south of the port city of Odesa and is a strategic guard for shipping lanes in Ukraine, on the Black Sea. Wikipedia

As Russia continues to gain control of the eastern Donbas region, Ukraine has retaken the island and has even raised their Ukrainian flag, and now their colors of blue and yellow flow in the wind, above the island. It is hoped that retaking the island could relieve the noose which the Kremlin has placed on Ukrainian ports with its blockades. The moment was definitely a morale booster for Ukraine, as it needed a victory after so much loss.

"The flag of Ukraine is on Snake Island. Ahead of us are many more such videos from Ukrainian cities that are currently under temporary occupation," - Andriy Yermak, UK COS

As soon as the Ukrainian flag was posted being raised on snake island, on mainstream media, The Kremlin responded with an aerial attack on the island, where combat planes struck it and destroyed part of the Ukrainian forces that had made it to Snake Island.

The missile strike on the island has caused massive damage to the dock area, states Serhiy Bratchuk, Odesa regional admin spokesman. He went on to state that another 2 Russian missiles had destroyed 2 grain storage locations which housed approximately 35 tons of grain as well, furthering the grain crisis.

"An aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces immediately launched a strike with high-precision missiles on Snake Island, as a result of which part of the Ukrainian military personnel was destroyed," - Igor Konashenkov, Ukrainian Ministry Spokesman

After Sunday's Russian conquest of the Ukrainian city of Lysychansk, the Russian Armed Forces are now dug in and concentrating on the northern border of the Donetsk region. Washington think-tank, the Institute for the Study of War, has stated that there has not been any new territory to fall under Russian control since Lysychansk, and thus far Russian attacks have been repelled, though the situation is fluid and intense.

With the addition of western weaponry, Ukrainian forces are making 'tangible strikes' on Russian targets, says President Zelenskyy.

"At last, Western artillery has started to work powerfully, the weapons we are getting from our partners. And their accuracy is exactly what is needed." - President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
