Belarus Gives Russia Full Control Of Zyabrovka Air Field Near Ukrainian Border

Belarus has given Russia full control of the Zyabrovka airfield located about 19 miles from the Belarusian border with Ukraine in the Gomel region, according to Oleksiy Gromov, deputy chief of the Main Operative Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Just recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that "unprecedented sanctions" and "political pressure from the collective West" had pushed both Russia and Belarus toward unification.

Nexta reported that Gromov said there are currently "activities to equip [a] Russian military base" at the location.

Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesperson Oleksandr Motuzianyk said on June 21st that there were up to seven battalions from Belarus on the Belarusian and Ukrainian border in both the Brest and Gomel regions, according to Ukrainian Interfax.

(Translation) of what Motuzianyk had stated, "This is up to 4,000 personnel. But you must understand that there are also Russian troops there. Considering that today the Belarusian side provides Russia with all the logistics, it is quite possible that the Russians will be able to quickly transfer some additional reserves to the territory of Belarus and, possibly, prepare an offensive, but they need to prepare for this. As of this day, we do not see it yet".
