Airman Arrested In Connection With Explosive Attack On US Base In Syria April 7th

An airman, who has not yet been identified has been arrested in connection with the explosives attack that had been carried out on a United States military base in Syria on April 7th, 2022, according to the Air Force.

A statement by the Air Force said "As part of an ongoing investigation, on June 16, an airman was taken into custody stateside in conjunction with the attack in Green Village, Syria. After reviewing the information in the investigation, the airman's commander made the decision to place him in pretrial confinement".

The Air Force has said that they will not be revealing the name of the service member until formal charges are brought against the man by prosecutors and said that "It is too early in the process for a charge sheet,” she said. “It will be available if charges are preferred".

The explosives attack happened on April 7th, at the Green Village base located east of the Euphrates River.

The attack injured four US troops, who received 'minor' injuries, but officials said that the injuries included "possible traumatic brain injuries".
The investigation is being conducted by the Army's Criminal Investigation Division, as well as the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, and is reported to be ongoing.
