Chinese-government backed media says Xi related to Biden, in what is their fifth phone call, that “the United States should abide by the "one-China principle" according to Reuters and also emphasized that China dynamically disapproves of Taiwanese independence and the interposition of foreign powers.
Beijing has sent rising forewarnings about backlash should Nancy Pelosi come to Taiwan. And Taiwan claims it is seeing augmented Chinese economic and military dangers.
"Those who play with fire will only get burnt," Chinese state media quote Xi as telling Biden. "(We) hope the U.S. side can see this clearly." According to Reuters.
China has provided insufficient advisement to specific challenges it would take if Pelosi – a judge of Beijing regarding human rights issues, makes the journey.
The leaders' phone call lasted just over 2 hours, and US chairpersons exclaimed it would have a very expansive docket with topics including the Russian invasion of Ukraine – something China has yet to castigate.
US Representatives said they saw the commutation as another occurrence to negotiate counteraction between the two superpowers, whose relations have been gradually troubled by contentions involving Taiwan, which Xi Jinping has promised to reunify with the Chinese continent by military force if required.
Washington does not have authenticated solidarity with Taiwan; but follows the “one-China policy” that observes Beijing, not Taipei, civilly.
