TAIWAN - In response to the latest blasts from the east regarding Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan, the United States military has decided to send the largest ship in the fleet, the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, along with its battle group to the South China Sea, according to Reuters.
After a port call in Singapore, the USS Ronald Reagan and its battle group have now returned to the South China Sea. Tensions at the moment are high and in a method of defense posturing, the battle group will be there if duty calls. Officials within the United States Navy's 7th Fleet have acknowledged the deployment is real. However, no mention of Pelosi or her trip was mentioned in their confirmation.
This is being seen by China as muscle flexing, in regards to the USS Ronald Reagan sailing into the South China Sea.
The deployment of the carrier group, which is stationed in Japan, comes as the United States and China swap some very dangerous rhetoric regarding policy over Nancy Pelosi's up-and-coming visit to Taiwan, which had been rescheduled from earlier in the year. Pelosi has yet to confirm her trip will even take place, yet the 2 countries seem to be in a constant sparring match over even the idea of her trip.
According to the New York Times, Presidents Xi & Biden had a two-plus-hour phone conversation today to discuss rising tensions. The phone call was mostly confrontational in regards to the independence of Taiwan. Neither China nor the United States reported anything that could be termed as progress with the phone conversation.
Xi was quick to the punch to warn President Biden, not to intervene between China and Taiwan, as Biden was quick to reiterate the United States and specifically his administration was not looking to ignite flames in the current evolving situation.
Any trip by Pelosi to Taiwan is viewed as a violation of the relationship established 50 years ago between the United States and China, including a promise by the United States to cease all relations with Taiwan.
Though the White House is concerned that Pelosi's trip could make an already intense situation, that much hotter, The United States President has yet to tell her not to go. Instead, they are still allowing Nancy Pelosi to make her own decision to travel to Taiwan.

Professor of International Relations, Shi Yinhong, stated the rhetoric was intended to dissuade Pelosi from coming but did not mean China would use force.
Other politicians in Washington are now urging Pelosi to make her trip to Taiwan. After all of the exchanged blows between China and the United States, if she does not go to Taiwan, this will appear weak to China. Others speculate this would incite further escalations between the 2 nations.
