U.S. President Joe Biden has announced that the United States will be banning all Russian-affiliated ships from entering American ports.
"That means no ship, no ship that sails under the Russian flag or that is owned or operated by a Russian entity, will be allowed to dock in a United States port or access our shores. None", Biden said Thursday. The move follows the banning of Russian-affiliated ships by both Canada as well as nations located within Europe.

"The policies and actions of the government of the Russian Federation to continue the premeditated, unjustified, unprovoked and brutal war against Ukraine" Biden stated.

The order by the Biden administration will give the Homeland Security Department the authority to enact rules "to regulate the anchorage and movement of Russian-affiliated vessels, and delegate to the secretary my authority to approve such rules and regulations".

The order will bar Russian vessels from entering the United States regardless of whether or not they are reflagged at sea and includes Russian-flagged, Russian operated, or Russian owned vessels but does not ban all Russian cargo in order to make sure the order does not seriously hurt supply chains for the United States.
