US Military Cyber Teams Took to the Offensive in Defense of Ukraine

Offensive operations have taken place from the US Military Cyber Command in support of Ukraine, states General Paul Nakasone, reports SkyNews.

There are daily concerns of a Russian cyber attack targeting the United States, so the logical path forward was through a series of operations known as 'hunt forward' operations which allowed the US teams to identify foreign state hackers and identify their tools before they could be used on the United States. Ukraine provided that very opportunity.

General Nakasone did not elaborate on said activities, but he did specify that they were done with complete civilian oversight and carried out within policy at the Department of Defense.

Cyber Command specialists have now been deployed to other consenting nations to seek intelligence on their computer networks. The total number of countries that Cyber Command operates in is 16.

General Nakasone stated that Cyber Command went to Ukraine in December 2021 and withdrew with the other state department workers shortly before the invasion started.
