The United States commerce department says that China has not been seen evading sanctions, or providing military equipment to Russia and said that enforcement measures that were taken earlier in the week were targeting Chinese companies, not the government. The statement comes after five companies in China were added to a trade blacklist for allegedly supporting Russia's military. A senior Biden administration official spoke to Reuters and said "China is not providing material support. This is normal course-of-business enforcement action against entities that have been backfilling for Russia". "We have not seen the PRC (People’s Republic of China) engage in systematic evasion or provide military equipment to Russia" they added, speaking on the condition of anonymity. Although the Biden administration has not found that China has been helping Russia's military with material support or evading sanctions to help Russia, and Beijing has stated the same, China has been refusing to condemn Russia's actions in Ukraine and criticized the United States for the sweeping sanctions that have been placed upon Russia.
