The Ukrainian military has claimed that they struck the Russian Flag-Ship, Slava-Class Project 1164 missile cruiser "Moskva" with two Neptun anti-ship missiles off of the coast of Odesa in the Black Sea.

Although Ukraine did not give any evidence, Russia's Defense Ministry did put out a statement saying that the Moskva missile cruiser had been badly damaged after ammunition that was on board was blown up by a fire.

Russian state news TASS reported, "As the result of a fire on the Moskva missile cruiser, ammunition detonated. The ship was seriously damaged". The statement did not however say what caused the fire in the first place but said that it was under investigation.

The ship is believed to have a crew of over 500, all of which were evacuated according to Russian reports.

The Moskva, which was commissioned in 1983, and armed with "Vulkan" cruise missiles with a range of at least 440 miles had been reportedly broadcasting Morse code and Cipher signals, but those have now stopped which could indicate the ship is now completely sunk.
