Turkish leader claims US bases in Greece pose direct 'threat' amid spat with Athens over NATO expansion

The leader of Turkey's far right political group; The Nationalist Movement Party claimed on Tuesday that U.S. military bases pose a direct "threat" to Turkish security.

The U.S. and Greece signed a five year bilateral military agreement earlier this month to tighten up defenses as Europe faces its' greatest threat since WWII following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

This agreement will grant the U.S. access to three military bases on mainland Greece as well as a long standing naval presence on Crete.
