Sweden Taking Steps To Answer Turkey Demands for NATO Membership

According to Reuters, Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General, said on Monday that Sweden is taking the steps to advance its membership into NATO by answering to Turkey's demands.

Turkey has made it known of its opposition to Finland and Sweden to joining NATO due to the nations stance on supporting Kurdish militants and a previous decision to withdraw arms export licenses to Turkey.

Magdalena Andersson has stated that Sweden has changed it's terrorism laws and looking into further tightening, and Sweden will ensure the legal arms export framework.

"I welcome that Sweden has already started to change its counter-terrorism legislation and that Sweden will ensure that the legal framework for arms export will reflect the future status as a NATO member with new commitments to allies," - Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General

"From the first of July we will also have stronger legislation when it comes to the fight against terrorism. So here are no questions about how strongly Sweden sees on terrorism and that we are willing to contribute to the fight against terrorism," - Magdalena Andersson, Swedish Prime Minister
