Location: Khorugh and Rushan, GBAO, Tajikistan
Event: The U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe is closely monitoring the situation in Khorugh and Rushan, including reports of roadblocks along with the Pamir highway and throughout Khorugh, large demonstrations, and several casualties. Mobile phone networks may become inoperable without notice.
U.S. government personnel travel to GBAO and within five (5) miles of the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border is limited to essential purposes only. Personal travel to these areas by U.S. government personnel is prohibited. The Embassy advises U.S. citizens to avoid non-essential travel to GBAO and along the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border.
