Russia has successfully tested a hypersonic nuclear-capable Zircon cruise missile which was fired from the Admiral Gorshkov frigate, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense on Saturday.
The missile, which was launched from the Barents Sea hit a target in the White Sea from a distance of about 1,000 kilometers (621 miles). The ministry released a video showing a missile being launched from a vessel.
The Zircon hypersonic missile can travel at 9 times the speed of sound, or Mach 9, and travels at a maximum speed of 11,000 km/h, or roughly 6835 miles per hour.
