TRANSNISTRIA - A report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that Russia is now preparing to evacuate the families of Russian officers from Transnistria, Moldova after a string of attacks that sparked fears that Moldova could be dragged into the conflict.

The report stated, "Armed formations of the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova are serving in an intensified mode. Preparations are underway for the evacuation of the families of officers of the operational group of Russian troops".

After the string of attacks in Transnistria, Moldova, which Russia has attributed to the Ukrainian military, units of the operational group of Russian troops are currently in full combat readiness.

The Interior Ministry of Transnistria stated that it has allegedly found a Ukrainian drone with an explosive device and that it "prevented an attempted terrorist attack".

There had been a recent attack on a government building in Transnistria's capital as well as reports that shots were fired from Ukraine into Cobasna in northern Transnistria.

The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (GUR) said that the situation in Transnistria signals Russia's readiness to use the area as a potential launching point for more attacks on Ukraine, and also signals possible aggression against Moldova.

Ukraine claims that Russia is attempting to carry out false flag attacks in the region. The GUR stated, "The terrorist acts committed on the territory of Transnistria were aimed at forcing the Transnistrian leadership to agree to expand the presence of Russian troops".

The GUR also said that the attacks "will be presented as a threat to the region and a signal to Moldova's leadership to abandon pro-European policies. The main goal is to keep the region completely under Moscow's control like it has been trying to do for 30 years".

Transnistria has said that they are not planning on joining Russia in the conflict, but Ukrainian intelligence has indicated from the beginning of the invasion that Russia's plan has been to create a land corridor connecting Russia to Donbas, Crimea, and Transnistria.

Transnistria is an unrecognized breakaway state from Moldova with a population of around 469,000 people that was created in 1990, and is known as the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and is controlled by pro-Russian separatists.
