[QUOTE="Donald, post: 548, member: 1"] Finland is set to announce possible plans to apply for North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) alliance membership as early as this spring according to reports by the local Finnish media. The Finnish news site Italehti said (based on translation) that Finland is preparing to apply for NATO membership with an additional registration issued by TP-Utva. Italehti stated that the additional entry is brief and only states that the state leadership has decided to apply for NATO membership. It also states that Prime Minister Sanna Marin will publish a 'supplement' to its foreign and security policy report on April 14th, and that the Parliamentary committees will begin discussing it after Easter. "The supplement does not directly express the NATO position of the Finnish state leadership" it states. The paper said, "Finland is preparing to apply for NATO membership through an additional registration, which may be reported by the Committee on Foreign and Security Policy (TP-Utva) of the President of the Republic and the Government during parliamentary proceedings". Italehti said that their sources estimate that the decision will be made in TP-Utva to apply for NATO membership in the first few weeks of May, but said that the decision route built by the government will allow TP-Utva to apply for NATO membership before May Day, in April.
