Flights were suspended on Friday May 20th, 2022, at the Geneva, Switzerland airport when a raging fire broke out at a building being built for asylum seeker reception. The building is outside the perimeter of the airport; however, landings were suspended, and take-offs were left up to pilot discretion.
Though the exact cause of the fire has not been declared, it has been discovered that the explosion and fires originated from 5 gas cannisters on the construction site.
The fire was brought under control by 6:30 PM Local Time in Geneva, Switzerland.
