The Mayor of Mariupol, Ukraine said on Monday that the Russian siege on the city killed over 10,000 civilians and that the death count could even reach up to 20,000. Ukraine alleges that Russia has used 'mobile crematoriums' to burn bodies in order to hide evidence of alleged human rights violations done on the civilian population by Russian forces. Mayor Vadym Boychenko, the Mayor of Mariupol reportedly spoke over the phone with the Associated Press and claimed that Russian forces had taken bodies to a large shopping center that contains storage facilities and refrigerators. "Mobile crematoriums have arrived in the form of trucks: You open it, and there is a pipe inside and these bodies are burned" he stated. We have found no solid evidence thus far that these mobile crematoriums are actually being used aside from accusations that are being presented about their use. This does not mean they are not being used, however. Until hard proof is provided about their use, we are undecided on whether or not the accusations are true. We believe forming an opinion on this either way without solid evidence to be irresponsible and premature. If we do see hard evidence of their use, or that the accusations are false we will put out another report on the matter detailing what we've found. Until then, we remain undecided.
