Israel has informed the United States that it was in fact responsible for the killing of the Iranian IRGC Colonel Sayad Khodayee, who was involved in the abduction and killing of Israelis, as well as other foreigners globally.
During the funeral for Sayad Khodayee mourners crowded the streets and changed "Death to Israel" while calling for his death to be avenged.
Colonel Sayad Khodayee, who was 50 years old at the time of his death was assassinated by two men on motorcycles in his vehicle outside of his home in Tehran on Sunday. The men shot five times at his vehicle, according to the local state news.
General Hossein Salami, the commander in chief of the Revolutionary Guards made a speech on Monday saying, "We will make the enemy regret this and none of the enemy’s evil actions will go unanswered".
Israel told Washington that the killing is a warning to Iran to halt its operations of Unit 840 covert Quds Force group, which is a group that Iran has never admitted to exist, that carries out assassinations and abductions around the globe.
Officials in Israel said that Colonel Khodayee was the deputy commander of Unit 840, and had participated in carrying out plots against foreigners, including that of Israeli citizens.
