Iran’s top security official Ali Shamkhani stated during a meeting with a top diplomat from the European Union that Iran will continue developing its nuclear program until the West changes what it calls "illegal behavior" according to Iranian state news IRNA.
"Iran’s retaliatory actions in the nuclear sector are merely legal and rational responses to US unilateralism and European inaction and will continue as long as the West’s illegal practices are not changed" Shamkhani stated.
Shamkhani did not however divulge what those "illegal practices" were.
Meanwhile, on June 22nd Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov traveled to Iran in order to discuss a nuclear deal and cooperation between Iran and Russia.
Russia's Foreign Ministry had posted a clip of the meeting where he said "In all the countries experiencing the negative influence of the selfish line taken by the United States and its satellites, there arises the objective need to reconfigure their economic relations so they can avoid relying on the whims and vagaries of our Western partners".
The month before, Russia and Iran had spoken of exchanging supplies for oil and gas, as well as creating a logistics hub in the region.
Regarding the visit, Iranian state media said "During Lavrov's visit, Iran's 2015 nuclear deal, boosting bilateral and energy cooperation, as well as international and regional issues will be discussed".
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said that Lavrov's visit was aimed at "expanding cooperation with the Eurasian region and the Caucasus".
