Iran Building Underground Nuclear Facility Near Natanz

According to both U.S. and Israeli intelligence, Iran is building a vast underground nuclear facility underneath a mountain located south of the Natanz nuclear complex, a report by the New York Times stated on Friday.

Satellites used by the intelligence agencies have captured the progress of the underground facility, which is being monitored by Israel and the United States.

The report claims that the underground facility currently being constructed in the mountains is being built deep into a mountain so as to withstand bunker-busting bombs. It is also being built to withstand cyberattacks.

The report also said that the construction of the new facility is a response to an alleged joint operation by the United States and Israel that targeted the power systems at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility.

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz gave a statement to the media on March 30th, 2022, and said that Iran is producing around 1,000 advanced IR6 centrifuges at the facility. "Iran is working to complete the production of the centrifuges in her nuclear facilities, including a new underground complex near Natanz" he stated.
