Iran Applies To Become A Member Of BRICS

Iran has applied to become a member of the BRICS, a group of emerging world economies that include: Russia, China, South Africa, Brazil, and India.
Iran's Foreign Ministry said that the move "would result in added values for both sides".

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Argentina has also applied to join the BRICS group.

Zakharova stated in Telegram "While the White House was thinking about what else to turn off in the world, ban or spoil, Argentina and Iran applied to join the BRICS".

At the moment the BRICS group has a combined population of about 3.2 Billion. Iran has a population of around 85 to 86 million people, while Argentina has a population of around 45 million people.

If both Iran and Argentina join BRICS, it would bring the total combined population of the group to around 3.3 billion.
