Intel, which has 1,200 people employed in Russia has decided to pull out of the country and suspend all operations due to the Russian war on Ukraine. Intel had stopped sales within Russia a month ago in order to comply with U.S. sanctions on the country, and publicly condemned Russia's invasion on Ukraine.
The statement put out by intel on Wednesday regarding their pullout said, "Our thoughts are with everyone who has been impacted by this war, particularly the people of Ukraine and the surrounding countries and all those around the world with family, friends and loved ones in the region".
The company has a large software development company in Russia and said that it's "working to support all of our employees through this difficult situation" and has put forth measures in order to minimize disruption to the company's operations.
Intel isn't the only one to have suspended operations within Russia. Google, Apple, Amazon, Facebook, FEDEX, McDonald's, Starbucks, Pepsi, American Express, IBM, Visa, MasterCard, Netflix, Microsoft, Samsung, TikTok, Electronic arts, Adobe, Airbnb, IKEA, Volkswagen, Universal Studios, YouTube, Sony Pictures, Disney, UPS and a great many other companies have also suspended operations in Russia.
