Former Ukrainian President Poroshenko Blocked From Leaving Country

On Saturday, Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko attempted to leave the country of Ukraine to attend a high profile meeting of NATO in Lithuania. Due to 'technical problems' with his permit, he was not allowed to leave the country. The meeting to be convened is with NATO's Parliamentary Assembly which is an advisory central group active inside the whole of NATO. Meetings were to be conducted in Vilnius as well as a meeting of the European People's Party in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Reuters stated that Poroshenko did receive all the proper invitations and that everything on the NATO side was cleared, that it was an internal technical problem with Poroshenko that was preventing his exit from Ukraine.

Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, it has been forgotten by most that Poroshenko is being investigated for possible high treason for financing Russian backed separatists in the Donbass.

"There is a risk that by this decision, the authorities have broken the political ceasefire in place during the war... which one of the pillars of national unity in the face of to Russian agression," -Office of Petro Poroshenko
