Finnish Government Agrees Finland Will Apply For Membership Of NATO

The President of the Finnish Ministerial Committee has agreed that Finland would apply for membership for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) after the Parliament has been heard, according to the Finnish Government.

The Finnish Government stated that "The report on Finland’s accession to NATO will proceed to Parliament once the government has endorsed it".

The Finnish government website stated, "On Sunday 15 May, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy finalized a report on Finland’s Accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The report will be submitted to Parliament once it has been endorsed in the government plenary session".

"In the meeting, the President and the Ministerial Committee agreed that Finland would apply for membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) after Parliament has been heard" it added.
