EU Swapping Back To Coal As Russia Makes Moves TO Turn Off Gas

The European Union has made a decision to temporarily swap back over to coal as opposed to gas to stem the reduction in gas supply from Russia, with the idea of not evading current climate goals. This decision comes as the Nord Stream 1 pipeline has been cut down to 40% of capacity, which is creating a catastrophic energy shortage on the EU, as a result of sanctions imposed on Russia by the EU for the invasion of Ukraine.

In a warning by the IEA chief, as we approach winter, Russia might cut more and even all of the gas which flows from Russia to the EU, and as a result, more older plants should come online, including older nuclear power plants.
