China has carried out a land-based missile interception test that it said "achieved its expected purpose," according to the Chinese defense ministry who said that the test was purely defensive and not aimed at any country in particular.
The Chinese defense ministry statement said that "The test reached its expected goals. This test was defensive and not aimed at any country."

On the evening of June 19, 2022, China conducted a land-based mid-course anti-missile interception technology test within its territory, and the test achieved the expected purpose.
