Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko Orders New Military Command at Belarusian-Ukrainian Border

A new military command, which was proposed last year but not implemented then, is to be set up on the southern Belarusian border per orders from Alexander Lukashenko, President of Belarus. Earlier in May, Lukashenko stated that Belarus would deploy Belarusian special forces to the border which would enhance their countries defenses.

"A new front has opened and we can't fail to pay attention to it," -Alexander Lukashenko

While Ukrainian soldiers fight in the east, a Northwestern front opening up would spread Ukrainian forces thin.

NATO allies continue to build up a military presence in anticipation of further escalation in countries such as Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland.
