At Least 19 Students 2 Teachers, Gunman, And Grandmother Killed In Texas

At least 19 students, 2 teachers, the suspected gunman, and his grandmother have been killed in relation to a shooting that took place in a Texas elementary school with a gunman who wore body armor. The gunman's grandmother was killed before the shooting at the school took place.

The shooter was shot and killed by law enforcement who responded to the shooting at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, around 80 miles west of San Antonio according to Governor Greg Abbott. It is not yet immediately clear how many were injured in the attack.

While many are using the opportunity to call for more gun control, a better question may not be how they got the guns, but what led them to do such a horrid thing in the first place.

A poll given to students by Alfred University showed that revenge is a major reason for school shootings. 87% of respondents said that they wanted to get back at those that hurt them. 86 percent of students responded by saying said that other kids pick on them, made fun of them, or bullied them. 62% said that they don't value life at all. 61% said that they have been victims of physical abuse at home.

The top five reasons were: getting back at those who were hurting them, being picked on and bullied by other kids, not valuing life, and being a victim of abuse.

As many of these issues can be solved at home, perhaps instead of looking so much at guns, we can take a closer look at how we can fix what's wrong with family in America, and what can we do to fix it.

I just read a conversation that the recent Texas school shooter had with a 15-year-old girl in Germany. That boy was a disrespectful, entitled little brat who spoke of his own grandmother in such a nasty, despicable way.

It's not guns that are the root problem, it's children without fathers to teach them respect through proper discipline and teaching. The root issue in our country is that we are failing to teach our children proper values.
