China launched its 3rd aircraft carrier today and in an attempt to defy those it sees as opposition, named it after the province which is directly opposite Taiwan, naming it the Fujian. Unlike the 2nd aircraft carrier of China, the Liaoning which was bought and refitted from Ukraine, the Fujian is domestically designed and built in China.
A grand ceremony, along with a celebration was kicked off today to celebrate the Fujian's deployment with Champagne, Ribbons, and water cannons, making it a grand gala event, in the Shanghai shipyard. This comes as part of Xi Jinping's plan of overhauling it's armed forces which is one of the largest in the world.
Though still outnumbered by the United States' massive 11 aircraft carrier fleet, China is working hard to develop and strengthen it's battle groups, which is something the United States' has been doing for years.
